Otmar is the founder and artistic design principal of heritageACP. With a diverse educational background, Otmar holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto, along with a Graduate Diploma in Architectural Conservation from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. His training also includes certifications in project management, construction management, and risk assessment, supported by professional affiliations with ICOMOS and the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).

Otmar’s formative influences include mentors such as Santiago Calatrava, Rem Koolhaas, Tadao Ando, and Wolf Prix—each renowned for their innovative approaches to architecture and design. The combined impact of these architects' visionary ideas has profoundly shaped Otmar’s philosophy, blending structural ingenuity with an emphasis on harmony between modernity and heritage. Their imaginative use of space, form, and materiality inspires Otmar’s focus on sustainable, context-sensitive design—especially within the realms of housing and heritage.

Otmar’s mother, an artist and English teacher, cultivated his appreciation for creativity and storytelling from a young age. His grandfather, a builder working across the Caribbean and Central America, instilled in him a deep understanding of craftsmanship and regional construction techniques. Growing up amid these influences, Otmar’s approach to architecture is rooted in a rich cultural narrative, emphasizing conservation and adaptive reuse. His experience with heritage sites and sustainable design enables him to craft environments that respect historic context while fostering innovative living solutions.

With over 20 years of experience, Otmar specializes in architecture, heritage conservation, and interior design. His expertise includes managing multidisciplinary projects, advocating for adaptive reuse, and ensuring the energy efficiency of heritage buildings. Driven by a passion for preserving cultural identity through architecture, Otmar continues to explore new ideas inspired by his mentors and background, aiming to create meaningful, durable, and innovative spaces that honor both tradition and progress.
